Using Solar Energy Sources For Better Home Efficiency

March 9th, 2010 4:17 am

If you and your family are trying to ‘live green’ this year, you’ll definitely want to know more about passive solar energy source. Solar power refers to the light and heat from the sun that is trapped and then converted into usable energy. Wind power, wave power, and hydroelectricity, are other, more common, forms of alternative energy technologies and are more commonly used to generate electricity for homes and businesses. Solar energy is by far the least used of the major alternative energy types. Although the use of solar energy has a long history, until recently it has not been possible to harness the massive amounts of energy needed to power a town or city. However, as an individual you can easily use solar technology to power your home. There are 2 types of solar power, active and passive, using an assortment of these resources your family can save a heap of money year after year on your utility bills. Plus you’ll reduce your carbon footprint and helping to care for the environment.

As a starting point look into using more passive solar energy, it’s easier to use and manage. In a perfect world we would all have south facing houses so that we could more easily utilize natural light. However, the world is not perfect nor are our houses. To make our homes more efficient we will have to manipulate things a bit.. Natural light is an excellent way to heat up any material with positive warming characteristics. Such as double paned windows. Using drapes and blinds is a way to effectively use passive solar energy to help you reduce your energy costs year round. In the winter natural sunlight can warm a house and reduce the amount of energy used to heat your house. Warm your house by opening blinds early in the day.. In the early evening heat will drift back through your window panes, so close your blinds early to prevent this from happening.. Of course, in the summer you do the exact opposite.

Active solar energy comes from solar panels or solar water heaters. An array of photovoltaic solar panels hooked into your power grid or a battery pack is the perfect alternative to rising costs of electricity. Any area of your home that gets natural sun light is a potential spot for a solar panel. Many people opt to have them installed on their roof, but that does not always have to be the case. If your backyard is large enough you can build your array off the ground. It’s worth the time to look into solar energy credits offered by the Federal, State, and Local governemnts. Making the installation of solar nearly free, if not totally free. Of course if you own a cabin or a boat you can making solar panels. Other solar energy resources include, solar water heaters, solar attic fans, and solar powered lighting. They capture sunlight convert it into energy for immediate or later use.

Solar energy has always lagged behind other forms of renewable energy. Partly due to it’s high cost of installation. However, that is changing rapidly. Many people are choosing to making solar panels and create their own solar arrays. Depending on where you live you can qualify for government rebate programs and get a sizable chunk of your solar panel system paid back to you. Mass produced solar energy is, for the most part, still in it’s infancy, but for individuals who only need small amounts of solar power, it can be the easiest way to reduce your energy bill and live green.

Environmental Products

March 9th, 2010 3:14 am

environmental products are little by little entering the market. When such items are available in regular stores and markets, their exposure is higher and the number of buyers will increase significantly. Environmental products are just emerging but with the right support from global organizations and interested partners an efficient and cost effective platform can be achieved. Many people who take the green life principles for guidelines actually become promoters of environmental products. What can governments do to support earth friendly products and services?

First of all, producers need a form of stimulation in order to commit to the manufacturing of environmental products. They are harder to achieve and more expensive in the conditions of the mechanized world industries. Therefore, incentives and rebates become important marketing strategies to encourage green business. Nevertheless, the very idea of going green remains inarticulate or confuse for many consumers and potential investors alike. One will hardly know the name of a company that produces environmental products. People need to learn what they have to gain by choosing environmental products over traditional ones.

The consumers’ interest in environmental products remains limited, and more media exposure is necessary to improve results. The message people need to get has to be very clear and well targeted, because it will not be long before users committed to the green cause will start doubting the efficiency or the reliability of certain earth-friendly items. Transparency, authenticity and efficiency in solutions, these are the elements that should go hand in hand with the promotion of environmental products. The market consists of consumer segments or categories like: green enthusiasts, pragmatics, pessimists and ignorant, and all of them have to be addressed in one particular way.

Hopefully, the number of people interested in environmental products will increase. Ignorance is the major problem here, because people make poor choices in general, let alone the selection of environmental products. It’s hard to predict the direction in which we are headed. What still holds true is that lots of marketing strategies will have to be invented so as to change consumers options or keep them in the area of environmental friendly products.

Making A Solar Panel Can Help To Save People Some Money

March 7th, 2010 1:16 am

Times are tough and money is tight right now and it may not seem to you to be a good idea to lay out cash on anything. Let alone something that sounds as speculative as a solar energy panel, but now is exactly the right time! Solar energy can save you money, provide you with great tax breaks, and even generate income for you. Making a solar panel at home is a great way to save even more money.

Even though there a several different ways to make your home solar powered, about the best way to get the most bang for your buck is by putting in the solar panels yourself. They are now cost efficient and simple to install and you can be making your own power within a few minutes after you get through installing them. It is simple to make solar powered energy, all you need to do is start making solar panels, install them and wait for the sun to shine.

It has taken many years to get to the place where modern day solar panels are affordable enough for most people. For some time, only people with a lot of money and a serious dedication to the environment would ever choose to power their homes with solar energy, but now everyone can do it.

Solar panels cost less than you may think, and they can not only help heat your home they can also put money back in your pocket. Your solar panels will sit there in the sunshine working away; your home will use the energy it needs while the rest can go back to the power company.. So, you could get a check from your utility company instead of a bill each month.

When you create your own solar power, not only do you save money, but the benefit for the environment is huge. Almost all electricity generated in the United States today comes from coal or utilizes other fossil fuels in its production.

The making of electricity is a dirty process. But, if you make your own power from the sun, you will be getting electricity from the cleanest source and best of all it will not harm our planet. . You will be saving money and doing a good thing for all of us, just by installing solar panels.

There is no doubt that if you spend time making a solar panel in your home, you are doing a very good thing for the environment. You are helping get rid of the waste in our air, but the best part is you are relying on fossil fuels less than you did before.

Here Is How Your Above Ground Pool Cover Can Save You Money

March 6th, 2010 3:49 am

Want to heat your pool to a desired temperature and find it warm still the next day? Frustrated with the amount of chemicals you need to put into your pool when it is hot out? Let’s talk a bit about above ground pool covers and how they can save you money.

I’m a pool owner, have been for 8 years now. It was in my third year of ownership that I purchased an (expensive) above ground pool winter cover. Guess what I use it for?

I cover my pool in the summer.

That’s right. When I’m done swimming for the day, I pull over the above ground pool winter cover and let that heat stay in.

Where I live in in Southern British Columbia, Canada, Nice place, we hit 70-90 degrees on occasion. Thing is, come evening, most nights you throw on a sweatshirt to keep warm. Temperatures do drop a bit come sunset.

This is when I put the cover on my pool. I like to keep the heat that my solar panels, connected to my roof, have provided all day long.

In the morning, if I want an early swim, I can roll back the cover and jump right in. I know that pool is the 85+ degrees I left it at the night before.

Now I have a backup heater system as well. It is a 25,000 BTU gas heater. When it comes on, I can actually view the gauge inside my meter moving.

Before I covered my pool, that good old gas heater would fire up around 3-4 am each morning to keep the pool to temperature. Did not think much of it until I received a couple of gas bills. Did not help that the gas company bills me every two months.

After a summer of $400 plus gas bills, I finally decided the investment into a good, quality, above ground pool cover was in order.

My cover has a blue surface with a vinyl underside. With a resistant material in the middle.

It does not work like a solar cover, it will reflect light and heat when it is on. What is does do is keep the heat inside the pool. As a side bonus, it prevents water evaporation, which has proved to be less chemicals needed as well.

Yes, I paid $1000 for the cover, once I had it custom made for my lazy L shaped pool. First year I believe I have saved that money in gas bills alone as my heater never runs.

I also get to open my pool almost a month ahead of my neighbors each spring. I put on my above ground pool cover and fire up the heater. This is my start up expense and I budget for it. My pool is hot within 48 hours and I take the cover off and on as I use the pool.

Most people are waiting for sunshine to warm their above ground pool solar covers and then loose most their heat every day in the beginning. They loose their heat the same way it comes in, through their solar blankets.

The only cover I have is the winter one.

Come winter, we get cold but rarely freeze, I keep the cover off my pool and we like the look of pool water versus a pool all bundled with leaves, rainwater and debris all on top.

sure I need to clean it on occasion, but it is worth it?

Do You Want Your Pool Cover To Save You Money?

A worry free pool cover can save you money in chemicals and heating, and it will protect your pool.

Texas Moving Company: Sun The Never-ending Supply of Energy

March 5th, 2010 2:50 am

Solar power is created by harnessing the sun’s rays or heat and then changing it into electrical energy. This typically is accomplished by applying direct or indirect techniques. In the direct technique which utilizes solar cells sunlight is immediately made into electrical energy that is utilized for many purposes varying from solar powered watches to garden lights. In the indirect technique sun’s heat is used to produce steam by simmering water which in turn is used in the creation of solar power. The benefits from such an endeavor are numerous, and can include things that will help humanity for many years to come. A cleaner planet is something that many people see as important for our lives now as well as the future generations that are to come, and thus, implementing solar energy into our daily lives has become very important.

Sun is exactly an endless mine of energy which the human kind can benefit from. It is also toxic free which makes it excellent news for the grounds of environmentalism. Anybody residing in scorching, sunlit places could think about setting up photo voltaic panels on their roofs and power their houses with this! Of course it will take much time before solar power could be employed instead of fossil fuels completely. Right now though the technologies for production are quite sophisticated there is a need to bring down the costs of the initial setting up process.

A lot of nations these days are pursuing solar power plant ideas carefully. For instance in California a cash inducement has been declared for home owners who can handle to generate more solar power than they spend and give the extra back into the grid. This sort of enticement scheme has produced great results in Germany and Spain and is probable to be doing well with Californians too. So if you are planning on relocating and saving money by going with this atmosphere friendly, renewable reserve you can plan relocating to Germany, Spain or California. There are California moving companies that could aid make your relocation simple. A Texas moving company is also a good thought to think of if you are relocating abroad.

The world’s biggest solar power plant has been deliberated in Gujarat a state in India. This is a hot area which captures the sun at its full energy approximately during the year. The plant which was at first deliberated for the generation of 500 MW is at this moment being extended to supply 3000 MW. A solar forest that tries to be a parking area that also are able to immediately charge the automobiles that are parked there is a different plan that is ongoing. Electric powered automobiles as we all are familiar with are the least harmful. There are many equipments that are being designed to obtain solar power generated effectively. This kind of energy can be applied in hundreds of purposes including the running of automobiles, other vehicles (the newest being a passenger boat for Berlin), satellites, cooking, lighting and many more.
